Summer Opportunities For Students

Shad Valley
Shad Valley is a four week summer enrichment program. Students spend a month living in residence at one of our host university campuses across Canada. The program is offered to students currently completing grade 10, 11 or 12.
ACAD Pre-College Program - Bursaries available!
For students that are serious about pursuing art or design studies the Alberta College of Art & Design offers a pre-college experience worth college credits. Students must be 16 - 18 yrs. who have completed grade 10.Registration will be available online in early January.
HRYS (Heritage Youth Researcher Summer Program)
Grade 11 students only. Students interested in a career in Health, with at least 85% in Gr. 11 maths and sciences may want to apply for this 6 wk. paid summer program. See Mrs. Allen before March 5th.
S.A.I.T. Summer Programs
Take a course this summer. Whether your camper's interest is in baking or science, the trades, or making sense of money, there's a fun and skill building experience for everyone.
Summer Music Camp, Concordia School of Music, Edmonton
Grades 4 - 12 week long music camp where students have the opportunity to sing under a fantastic conductor, meet friends from all across AB and Canada, and participate in fun activities such as art, handbells, swimming, and outdoor games.
FYSci Camp
The FYSci Health Science Camp is designed to provide hands-on biomedical and health research experience to students in Grade 11. Application to this program is by teacher recommendation only.Students will attend either the U of C or U of A program for one week, at no cost. Students will conduct experiments, tour research labs and attend presentations.
Alberta Youth Entrepreneurship Camp
The Alberta Youth Entrepreneurship Camp (AYEC) is a one week business planning camp for youth aged 13-15 designed to improve business, academic and life skills through entrepreneurship. AYEC creates an opportunity for regional youth to gain valuable transferable entrepreneurial skills by participating in experiential recreational activities while enjoying the traditional summer camp experience.

Alberta Youth Entrepreneurship - Junior Achievement
To complement our work with youth during the summer (Alberta Youth Entrepreneurship Camp), Community Futures Centre West partners with Junior Achievement Southern Alberta (JASA) to help deliver financial literacy programs to youth in grades five through twelve during the school year. To inspire and educate young Albertans to succeed in the global economy by providing them with opportunities to experience free enterprise, understand business and economics and develop entrepreneurial, financial literacy and leadership skills". Community Futures Centre West supports JASA with staff involvement on the Bow West Rural Leadership Council as well as the delivery of the programs in rural schools.
